A Wi-Fi QR code carries SSID, password and encryption type. Modern Android and iOS cameras recognise the code, ask the user to join, and connect without manual entry.
Steps
- New code → "Wi-Fi" tab.
- Enter the Network name (SSID) exactly as configured on the router — casing matters.
- Select Security:
- WPA / WPA2 — standard for home networks
- WEP — legacy routers only, insecure
- Open network — no password needed
- Enter the password (not applicable for open networks).
- Check Hidden network if your SSID is not broadcast.
- Create code.
Printing for a guest network
Print the code on a tent card or the back of your menu. Tip: pick the "Shield" frame and label it "WiFi" — it raises the conversion rate, since guests no longer have to guess what the code is for.
Security note
The QR code carries the password in plain text. Anyone who photographs the printed code has access. Do not use it for your main home network password — set up a separate guest network on the router and generate a dedicated code for that.
