Frequently asked
Worth knowing before you print.
What is a QR code?
A two-dimensional barcode that stores data like URLs, text or contact info inside the image. Smartphones read it with the camera — no extra app needed.
Is qrody really free?
Yes. You can create unlimited QR codes without an account, customise them and download as PNG, SVG or PDF. An account only makes sense if you want to manage many codes or change their contents later.
Do you store what I type?
No. Anonymous codes are rendered directly in the browser or briefly on the backend and not persisted. We do not set tracking cookies and do not share your input with anyone.
How long does my QR code work?
Static codes work forever — the content is baked into the image and never changes. Dynamic codes (with an account) can be re-routed later without reprinting the code.
Which file format should I pick?
PNG for screens, social media and quick previews. SVG for crisp print (posters, flyers, packaging). PDF for a ready-to-print A4 layout.
How big should I print it?
Rule of thumb: print edge length = scan distance ÷ 10. For arm's reach, 2–3 cm is enough; for a poster meant to be scanned from 5 m, 50 cm is safer. Keep at least four module widths of white border (quiet zone).
Do I need an account?
Not for single codes. An account is useful when you want to manage many codes, track scans or change contents later — menus, event pages, campaigns and so on.
Do the codes still scan reliably after printing?
Yes, provided contrast, size and the quiet zone are preserved. qrody uses error-correction level M (about 15 % tolerance) so small print defects, folds or a logo overlay don't break the scan.
